The Jordan Shipping Association, in collaboration with the General Customs Department and the National Single Window Department, held a specialized training workshop on the ASYCUDA system for electronic import manifests. The workshop took place over two days at the association’s office. The aim of this workshop was to familiarize workers in the maritime sector with the new amendments introduced to the summary declaration and the mechanism for registering electronic manifests, which will come into effect on the 3rd of November.
During the workshop, an expert from the General Customs Department provided a detailed explanation of how to use the system for data entry and to simplify the manifest processing procedure. The expert reviewed recent amendments, which included granting freight forwarders new permissions to add and modify sub-bills, as well as allowing early registration of electronic manifests with the ability to make changes until the vessel arrives in territorial waters or the declaration is issued. These changes significantly contribute to speeding up cargo clearance procedures, enhancing work efficiency, and saving time and effort for traders and relevant parties.
The workshop also saw active participation from attendees, who shared their feedback and suggestions, which will help improve the mechanism of working on the system, reflecting the commitment of those in the sector to providing the best services to the maritime sector. At the conclusion of the event, the General Customs Department and the Jordan Shipping Association expressed their gratitude to the participants for their continuous cooperation, emphasizing the importance of ongoing joint efforts to ensure smooth operations
